Discover Bacolod
BACOLOD is the capital city of the province of Negros Occidental. Known as the “City of Smiles” because of its MassKara Festival, a Mardi Gras-like festival and a spectacularly mix of dance, color and music. Bacolod is also known as the Land of Sweet People and for its culinary heritage, including the famous Chicken Inasal (a kind of roast chicken on skewers) and sweet dessert treats like Piaya. Bacolod’s famous landmarks include the beautiful 19th century mansions of sugar barons, historical monuments and churches during the Spanish era.
Note: For a continuing tour of the Visayas, you may proceed to the nearby Iloilo City or Guimaras Island – a favored destination because of its picturesque beaches, waterfalls, springs, and offshore islets. It is also famous for its mangoes as the sweetest mango in the world. Both destinations are accessible from Bacolod via ferry.
